I had reported previously that Gov. Jerry Brown already has vetoed the gimmick-filled budget that his legislative Democratic colleagues hobbled together yesterday. That ordinarily would be good news given the gimmicks, bizarre revenue projections, fee increases and so forth that are at the foundation of that budget. But this morning it appeared that the one good provision -- the elimination of redevelopment -- also goes by the wayside. But I jumped on the negative news too early. Apparently, the trailer bills involving redevelopment have yet to make it to the governor's desk. Redevelopment might really be kaput. I will keep you posted. Maybe it's the best of all worlds -- a dead budget and dead redevelopment.
