Throughout California, and in Los Angeles County in particular, the children services system and dependency courts are a nightmare plagued by allegations of incompetence and corruption. An LA county judge has thrown open the courtrooms to the public and the media, offering a healthy dose of transparency. That reform offers more hope than others to reform this system. But the social workers are fighting this. Here is my column on it.
