Defense spending and the blue states

Blue state economies are very dependent on the defense industry, even more so than red states and swing states (Table).

Most blue state officials are aware of this. Or if they didn't know it before, they're certainly hearing a lot about this these days

In other words, let's not for a moment think that defense cuts are the "Democrat" cuts, even though that was the original premise of sequestration. (To motivate the bipartisan Supercommittee, half the automatic cuts were designed to fall on defense, and half on discretionary social welfare programs.)

Just sayin'.
